Toombs County Deputies Searching for Home-Invasion Suspect Who Assaulted Elderly Woman

UVALDA, GA – On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, just before 1 p.m., Toombs County 911 received a call from an elderly woman reporting that an unknown man forced his way into her home on Currie Road in Uvalda and assaulted her while demanding drugs.

The victim told dispatchers that the intruder was a white male with blonde, disheveled hair, wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans. She reported that he used a weapon during the attack, then fled out the back door of the home.

Deputies, investigators, and Special Agents with the Georgia Department of Corrections Southeast Region CID Unit responded immediately and set up a perimeter around the area. A neighbor who was contacted by the victim before she called 911 arrived to help and provided care until first responders took over. The victim was transported by Toombs-Montgomery EMS and later airlifted in stable condition.

A large multi-agency search was launched, bringing in the Georgia State Patrol, GSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, the GSP Aviation Unit, and K9 teams from the Department of Natural Resources and the Vidalia Police Department. Despite multiple attempts, K9 units were unable to establish a scent trail, and an aerial search by GSP Aviation found no sign of the suspect. Limited evidence at the crime scene has left investigators with few leads.

Deputies will maintain increased patrols in the area while the investigation continues.

Residents are urged to keep homes, vehicles, and outbuildings locked, remove keys from vehicles, and call 911 immediately if they see anyone matching the suspect’s description. The Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude for the rapid response and assistance from the roughly 20 additional officers and agencies that joined the search effort.
