Refrigerated Truck Packed With Meth Found Outside Atlanta Home; Two Arrested

Fulton County authorities say two Atlanta men are facing major drug trafficking charges after state and federal agents seized more than 400 kilograms of methamphetamine from a property in southeast Atlanta last week.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced Monday that 40-year-old Juan Hernandez and 36-year-old Nelsonen Sorto were arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine following a joint investigation led by the GBI’s West Metro and Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Offices. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Atlanta Police Department, and the FBI also assisted.

Investigators said they received intelligence on November 20 about a large quantity of drugs being stored at a house in the 800 block of Custer Avenue SE. Agents began surveillance and gathered enough information to secure a search warrant for the property.

During the search, agents found roughly 419 kilograms of meth and three firearms. The drugs were packed inside a refrigerated truck parked outside the residence.

Hernandez and Sorto were taken into custody and booked into the Fulton County Jail.
