Bibb County Deputies Arrest Two in Connection with Entering Auto Investigation

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested two suspects in connection with an entering automobile investigation early Saturday morning.
On October 11, 2025, just after 2:00 a.m., patrol deputies responded to the Holiday Inn Macon North, located at 3953 River Place Drive, after reports of vehicle alarms and two male suspects entering automobiles. The suspects, dressed in all black, fled the scene in a blue SUV.
Deputies located the vehicle on Riverside Drive and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over, leading to a pursuit. When the vehicle stopped near Napier Avenue and Brookdale Avenue, several occupants ran from the scene on foot. After a brief chase, two suspects were taken into custody.
Deputies recovered a firearm with an extended magazine, multiple automobile key fobs, and determined the SUV had been reported stolen out of Warner Robins.
The suspects were identified as a 16-year-old juvenile and 17-year-old Jay’Shawn Lamar Smith of Macon. Both were transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office for further investigation.
The juvenile was charged with Theft by Receiving Stolen Property and two counts of Entering an Automobile. He was released to his parents and is awaiting a court hearing.
Jay’Shawn Smith was charged with Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, two counts of Entering an Automobile, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and multiple traffic violations. He remains in custody at the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center without bond.
