Columbus Police Arrest Suspect in Brookstone Boulevard Homicide

Columbus Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of 65-year-old Norman Lane, whose body was discovered Monday evening, October 6, 2025, inside his home in the 6200 block of Brookstone Boulevard.
Officers responded to the residence around 8:16 p.m. after receiving a report of a possible burglary. Upon arrival, they observed signs of forced entry and located Lane inside the home with gunshot wounds. Deputy Coroner Ben Saxon pronounced Lane deceased at 9:09 p.m. The Violent Crimes Unit was called in to take the lead on the investigation.
On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, 26-year-old Antanvious Tyrese Butler was arrested in connection with Lane’s murder. Butler faces charges of Murder, Home Invasion (1st degree), and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.
Columbus Police Violent Crimes Unit and Special Operations members took Butler into custody without incident. He was transported to the Muscogee County Jail and formally charged. Butler is scheduled to appear in Recorder’s Court for a preliminary hearing on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the homicide.
