Middle Georgia State University Named a 2025 ‘Great College to Work For’

MACON, Ga. – Middle Georgia State University (MGA) has earned national recognition as one of the best colleges in the country to work for, according to the 2025 Great Colleges to Work For program.

The honor, announced Sept. 19 by The Chronicle of Higher Education and GreatCollegesList.com, places MGA among only 76 institutions nationwide to receive the designation this year.

Adding to the achievement, MGA was named an “Honor Roll Institution” for being recognized in nine of the program’s 10 categories—an uncommon distinction that highlights the University’s strong workplace culture among medium-sized colleges and universities.

The areas in which MGA excelled include:

  • Job Satisfaction & Support
  • Compensation & Benefits
  • Professional Development
  • Mission & Pride
  • Supervisor/Department Chair Effectiveness
  • Confidence in Senior Leadership
  • Faculty & Staff Well-being
  • Shared Governance
  • Faculty Experience

“This recognition affirms what we strive for every day at Middle Georgia State University, which is to live out our core values of stewardship, engagement, adaptability, and learning,” said MGA President Dr. Christopher Blake. “Earning a place among the ‘Great Colleges to Work For’ is not simply about the honor itself, but about the culture we build together as faculty and staff in service to our students and communities.”

The Great Colleges to Work For program is considered one of the nation’s most respected workplace-recognition initiatives in higher education. Results are heavily based on employee feedback from faculty, administrators, and staff across 199 institutions, with responses analyzed by ModernThink, a human capital consulting firm.

Middle Georgia State serves more than 8,700 students across five campuses—Macon, Cochran, Dublin, Eastman, and Warner Robins—as well as online. The University offers more than 70 academic programs, including doctoral, master’s, bachelor’s, associate, and certificate-level degrees. MGA is also home to Georgia’s flagship School of Aviation, based on its Eastman campus.
