Columbus Police Investigating Drive-By Shooting That Left Woman Critically Injured

On Monday, September 22, 2025, at approximately 6:43 p.m., Columbus patrol officers responded to the 1800 block of Susan Lane after receiving reports of shots fired. When officers arrived, they located multiple shell casings in the roadway but found no victims.
Shortly after, a separate 911 call reported two gunshot victims had arrived at the Columbus Police Department’s East Precinct. A 24-year-old woman and her 7-year-old son were transported by ambulance to Piedmont Columbus Regional. The child sustained minor injuries, while the woman remains in critical condition.
The Violent Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation. Preliminary findings identified Jontay Reynolds, 28, as the suspect. Reynolds is the female victim’s husband and the child’s father. Warrants have been issued for Drive-By Shooting and two counts of Aggravated Assault (Family Violence), with additional charges expected as the investigation develops.
