Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center Earns National Recognition for AFib Care

MACON, Ga.—For the fifth consecutive year, Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center has received the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – AFib Gold quality achievement award. The award recognizes the hospital’s commitment to following the latest research-based guidelines for managing atrial fibrillation (AFib), a condition that can increase a patient’s risk of stroke.

“AFib patients can trust that Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center is a leader in implementing the latest research and treatments,” said Atrium Health Navicent Chief Medical Officer Dr. Patrice Walker.

The hospital has recently adopted new technologies to improve patient care for AFib. Last year, it became the first hospital in Georgia to offer FARAPULSE with Opal for Pulsed Field Ablation, a treatment that minimizes risk by using short electrical pulses to target the areas of the heart that cause irregular heartbeats. This year, the hospital also performed the state’s first FARAVIEW Opal mapping procedure, which uses software to give surgeons the ability to both ablate and map the heart during a single procedure.

The Get With The Guidelines program provides hospitals with tools to ensure patient care aligns with the most current research. It also helps to educate patients on how to manage their condition at home.
