14-Year-Old Arrested After Threats Made Against Mitchell County High School

Mitchell County, GA – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a 14-year-old student after a threat was made against Mitchell County High School.

On September 8, 2025, deputies requested GBI assistance after a text message circulated among students threatening a school shooting. By the next day, investigators identified the minor as the source of the threat.

The teen has been charged with Terroristic Threats and Disruption of a Public School. Following discussions with the Department of Juvenile Justice, the suspect was transported to a Regional Youth Detention Center.

Authorities confirmed there is no indication the juvenile was on campus after making the threat.

The case remains under active investigation and will be prosecuted by the South Georgia Circuit District Attorney’s Office.
