Henry County Officer Shoots Armed Minor After Threats to Mother

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is reviewing an officer-involved shooting that left a minor injured in Henry County on Friday evening.
According to preliminary information, Henry County Police responded to a domestic disturbance on Crandon Court in McDonough around 8 p.m. on August 29, 2025. The incident involved a mother and her minor son. While officers were on their way, dispatchers reported that the mother had locked herself inside a bedroom while her son, armed with a knife, attempted to break in.
When officers arrived, they found the minor in an upstairs bedroom still holding the knife. During the encounter, one officer fired at the teen, striking him. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His condition has not been released.
No officers were injured during the incident.
The GBI will continue its investigation and turn over its findings to the Henry County District Attorney’s Office for review once complete.
