Wanted Driver Arrested After High-Speed Chase Through Two Counties Ends in Macon Crash

BIBB COUNTY, Ga.—A high-speed pursuit that began in Bibb County ended in Houston County on Monday with the arrest of a driver wanted on multiple warrants.
According to a police report, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Fredrick Gray attempted to stop a Ford on Mercer University Drive after an alert indicated the driver had a suspended license and was wanted by the Houston County Sheriff’s Office and the Columbus Police Department. Instead of stopping, the driver sped away, reaching speeds of over 100 mph.
The chase continued toward Hawkinsville Road, where Houston County deputies deployed spike strips. The motorist’s vehicle eventually crashed into a tree near Booth Road. The driver attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended.
The suspect was transported to a hospital for treatment of his injuries before being taken to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center. He faces multiple charges.
The pursuit was a joint effort involving the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division and SIU Investigators, the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, and the Georgia State Patrol.
