Man Found Dead with Head Wound on Macon Road, Columbus Police Investigating

Columbus Police are investigating after a man was found dead on Macon Road Tuesday afternoon.

On August 19, 2025, at approximately 4:46 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of Macon Road in reference to a person down. Responding officers located a Black male, later identified as 66-year-old Edwin Grier, who was unresponsive and bleeding from the head.

Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene and attempted to resuscitate Grier but were unsuccessful. Deputy Coroner Elizabeth Allison pronounced him deceased at 5:29 p.m.

The Violent Crimes Unit was called to the scene and has taken over the investigation.
