Suspect Arrested in Connection to Macon Homicide and Assaults in May

The U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force has arrested a suspect in connection with the homicide of 25-year-old Jaurice Markel Haywood of Macon.
According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, investigators identified 30-year-old Atraraus Marrell Rouse as a suspect in the killing of Haywood and the aggravated assault of 24-year-old Jatorian Burton and 23-year-old Tyress Rivers.
Rouse was taken into custody Monday afternoon in Jones County without incident and transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. He has been charged with Murder and Aggravated Assault and is currently being held without bond.
The investigation started on May 17, 2025, when Bibb County deputies responded to the 1500 block of Williamson Road in Macon. They arrived on-scene at approximately 2:30 am and found three men with gunshot wounds. Haywood was pronounced dead at the scene and the other two were transported to the hospital.
