Perkins Man Arrested for Impersonating Police, Making Threats in Jenkins County

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has arrested Wayne Leo Chance, 51, of Perkins, GA, charging him with one count of Disorderly Conduct, four counts of Terroristic Threats, and one count of Impersonating a Police Officer.

The Jenkins County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI’s involvement after reports that Chance had impersonated a police officer and threatened a group of four people riding ATVs on a county-maintained road on August 8, 2025. Chance allegedly confronted the group while driving a non-law enforcement vehicle equipped with activated construction-style warning lights, portraying himself as an officer and issuing threats of violence.

Chance turned himself in to the Jenkins County Jail on August 12, 2025. Upon completion, the investigation will be referred to the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
