Man Fatally Shot by Police After Threat Call at Apartment Complex in St. Marys

ST. MARYS, GA – A 27-year-old man was shot and killed by police late Sunday night, August 3, 2025, following a report of threats at the Cumberland Oaks Apartments in St. Marys.

At approximately 11:06 p.m., officers with the St. Marys Police Department responded to the apartment complex located at 100 Mary Powell Drive. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Gregory Peter Paige of Jacksonville, Florida.

During a brief encounter, officers discharged their firearms, striking Paige. Emergency aid was immediately administered on scene. He was then transported to the Southeast Georgia Health System – Camden Campus, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has been requested to take over the investigation to ensure transparency. The incident remains under active investigation.
