Wanted Woman Found Hiding in Dresser, Arrested with Accomplice in Jones County

Nichole Lewis, who had been on the run with multiple outstanding warrants, is now in custody following a coordinated effort by Jones County authorities.

On July 23, Investigator Hall, Lt. Carr, and Deputy Dennis responded to a residence on Upper River Road after receiving information that Lewis was hiding there. She was wanted in Jones, Baldwin, and Putnam Counties on charges including fleeing and eluding, possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute, obstruction, and failure to appear.
At the scene, deputies encountered Ashley Wilkes, who had her own warrant for aiding Lewis in evading arrest. A search of the home revealed Lewis concealed in a hidden compartment inside a dresser.
Deputies also discovered a quantity of suspected methamphetamine in the room.
Both Lewis and Wilkes were arrested and transported to the Law Enforcement Center. The Jones County Sheriff’s Office extended thanks to Baldwin County deputies for their assistance in the operation.
