Brothers Arrested in Connection to Phenix City Murder

Rufus Alston and Douglas Armour have been arrested in Columbus, Georgia, in connection to the January 2025 murder of Hernandis Harmon in Phenix City, Alabama.

On January 25, 2025, the Phenix City Police Department responded to a shooting at 426 Highway 165, where they found Hernandis Harmon deceased from multiple gunshot wounds. Following an investigation, Capital Murder and Hindering Prosecution warrants were issued for brothers Rufus Alston and Douglas Armour.

On March 28, 2025, the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office Collaborative Intelligence Unit, along with the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (S.R.T), the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit, and the Phenix City Police Department, executed two search warrants in East and South Columbus.

During the execution of the warrants, both Alston and Armour were arrested without incident. Alston was found in possession of marijuana and a Glock handgun modified for automatic operation. Armour was found in possession of an AK-47 rifle.

Rufus Alston was charged with:

  • Capital Murder
  • Hindering Prosecution
  • Unlawful Possession of Firearms or Weapons
  • Possession Of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime
  • Possession Of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute

Douglas Armour was charged with:

  • Capital Murder
  • Hindering Prosecution
  • Hit and Run
  • Possession Of Firearm By A Convicted Felon

Both brothers were transported to the Muscogee County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
