Man Found with Self-Inflicted Injury After Domestic Disturbance in Banks County

On February 7, 2025, deputies from the Banks County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance on Historic Homer Highway. Upon arrival, deputies found a female victim with head injuries and immediately provided emergency medical care.

While assisting the victim, deputies began searching for the suspect, identified as Edward Countryman, 27, of Homer. He was later found unresponsive in a nearby area from a self-inflicted injury. Deputies performed life-saving measures before transporting him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The female victim was also taken to a medical facility for further treatment. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
