Columbus Police Seek Suspect in Shooting and Home Invasion

The Columbus Police Department is actively investigating a shooting that occurred on January 9, 2025, in the 3900 block of Trask Drive. Officers responded to a 911 call around 3:45 p.m. and found a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.
The suspect, Marc Whatley, 38, is accused of forcibly entering the residence, assaulting the victim, and fleeing the scene. He was last seen driving a 2000 green Mercury Grand Marquis with large rims and Georgia license plate CKC 8878.
Whatley is described as a Black male, approximately 6 feet tall and weighing around 180 pounds. He is wanted for the following charges:
- Aggravated Assault
- Home Invasion (Felony)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime
