East Point Police, SWAT Respond to Shooting Incident on Matador Court

Police and South Metro SWAT are responding to an active situation at the 3200 block of Matador Court following a reported shooting on the afternoon of December 18, 2024.

At approximately 3:40 p.m., East Point Police Communications received reports of a physical altercation and gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, officers were informed by a victim that he had been involved in a physical fight with a male resident of a nearby apartment.

The victim stated that after the altercation ended, the male suspect retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and began firing at him and others outside the apartment complex. No one was struck during the gunfire, according to the victim.

The suspect then retreated into his apartment and refused to exit despite officers making verbal contact through the front door.

East Point Police Criminal Investigation Division and the South Metro SWAT Team are now on the scene, working to resolve the situation peacefully.

Authorities have not provided additional details at this time. Residents are advised to avoid the area as operations are ongoing.
