Fairburn Police Seek Public’s Help in 2023 Fatal Shooting at Los Mariachis Restaurant

Detectives with the Fairburn Police Department are requesting assistance in their ongoing investigation of a fatal shooting at Los Mariachis Mexican Restaurant, located at 7794 Ella Lane in Fairburn, Georgia.

On January 8, 2023, at approximately 1:57 a.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting at the restaurant. Upon arrival, they found Montrez McAlister lying on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, McAlister succumbed to his injuries.

According to a witness, McAlister was seated at the bar when a man described as approximately 5’10”, wearing black joggers and a red hoodie (possibly Georgia Bulldogs apparel), entered the establishment and fired several shots. The suspect fled through the front door and was seen entering a white or silver sedan, possibly a Nissan.

Surveillance footage captured a black male matching the suspect’s description in the vicinity of Los Mariachis at the time of the shooting. Detectives believe several customers and employees present during the incident may have critical information.
