Five Star Credit Union Donates to Support Mental Health Initiatives in Macon
On Friday, November 1, Five Star Credit Union made a donation of $1,000 to Macon Mental Health Matters (MMHM) as part of their ongoing efforts to raise awareness about mental health issues in the community.
“We partnered with Mental Health Matters to bring awareness to mental health issues,” said Robert A. Steensma, president/CEO of Five Star Credit Union. “This year we held the first mental health awareness day at Five Star, and as a credit union, we want to give back to our community. This donation will help them continue the great work they do helping the Macon community have a place to turn for assistance.”
MMHM Director Andrea Cooke expressed gratitude for the support, stating, “We are incredibly grateful to Five Star Credit Union for their generous support of Macon Mental Health Matters. This donation not only empowers us to expand our resources but also highlights the importance of mental health in our community. Their partnership allows us to continue creating safe spaces and accessible services for those who need support, showing that mental health truly matters here in Macon.”
Macon Mental Health Matters was launched in 2021 as part of Mayor Lester Miller’s initiative to provide accessible mental health services to everyone in the community. Since its inception, MMHM has reached thousands of people through various programs, including events, pop-up gyms, and one-on-one counseling sessions.
