Man Shot in the Back After Bar Altercation in Albany, Suspect Charged with Murder

On October 4, 2024, at approximately 10:32 PM, officers responded to a shooting at Break Time Pub & Billiards, located at 2809 Palmyra Road. Upon arrival, they found 36-year-old Lorne Neil Odom in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to the back. Odom was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injury.

Authorities determined that the shooting followed a physical altercation, during which Odom had escorted 53-year-old Michael Nix out of the bar. Nix allegedly pulled a gun, chased Odom, and fired a shot, striking him in the lower back.

Nix was taken into custody and charged with Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. He has been transported to the Dougherty County Jail.
