Public Assistance Needed in Hit-and-Run Investigation That Claimed Life of 88-Year-Old Man in Mitchell County

The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) is urgently seeking public assistance in the investigation of a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of an 88-year-old man. The incident occurred on Mount Olive Road in Mitchell County on September 20, 2024, around 6 p.m.

SCRT believes the suspect vehicle may be a 1990s Ford, possibly a Ranger, Bronco, or Explorer, or a late 1990s Chevrolet Silverado. The vehicle is expected to have damage to the front passenger side headlight area.

GSP is appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, has information about the suspect, or has seen the vehicle in question to come forward. No detail is too small, as any information could significantly aid in the investigation.
