Student Found with Airsoft Gun at Monroe County Middle School

On Tuesday, October 1, 2024, officials at Monroe County Middle School discovered a student in possession of an Airsoft gun. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office was immediately notified, and an investigation was launched.

Preliminary findings suggest the Airsoft gun was concealed in the student’s waistband and shown to other students. Authorities are treating the incident with the same seriousness as if the student had been carrying a real firearm.

The student involved has been removed from campus pending the outcome of the investigation and a disciplinary review. No students or staff were harmed during the incident.
