Arrest Made 2023 Murder of Homeless Man in Glynn County

Glynn County investigators have made significant progress in a year-old homicide case following the arrest of a suspect on Monday. The arrest is linked to the shooting death of 39-year-old Christopher Suttles at a homeless encampment on Merchants Way.

On June 7, 2023, officers from the Glynn County Police Department (GCPD) responded to the encampment where they found Suttles suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts, including CPR, Suttles succumbed to his injuries.

As of August 19, 2024, GCPD’s Major Crimes Unit has arrested 28-year-old Alex Etheredge, charging him with one count of homicide in connection with Suttles’ death.

Details about the motive behind the shooting and the circumstances leading up to the incident are still under investigation.
