Driver Arrested After Climbing on Car and Confronting Deputies at Bibb County Crash Scene

MACON, Ga. A 20-year-old driver was arrested Tuesday after deputies say he became confrontational during the investigation of a traffic crash, climbed onto his vehicle and obstructed law enforcement officers.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Patrol Division deputies responded July 8 to a crash involving a Nissan Altima that sideswiped another vehicle while changing lanes.

Investigators determined the Nissan driver was at fault and advised him he would be cited for making an improper lane change.

Deputies said the driver, identified as Dtroye Jtyez Burney, became irate after learning he would receive the citation. According to the incident report, Burney climbed onto the top of his vehicle, yelled into his cellphone and shouted in a deputy’s face.

Deputies ultimately removed Burney from the top of the vehicle and took him into custody.

The report also states that members of Burney’s family were asked to leave the crash scene.

Burney was booked into the Bibb County Jail at 2:07 p.m.

He is charged with a traffic or motor vehicle offense and willful obstruction of law enforcement officers.
