Bibb County Investigators Arrest Two After Traffic Stop Uncovers Rifles, Suspected Drugs

MACON, Ga. Two suspected drug dealers were arrested after a traffic stop in Macon led to the discovery of firearms, suspected marijuana, ammunition, and other evidence, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said Investigator Adam Grant was conducting a crime suppression detail when he initiated a traffic stop on a Honda Accord traveling on Northside Drive for a suspended registration and a defective headlight. The vehicle continued a short distance before stopping on Alexander Avenue.

According to the incident report, Investigator Grant detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle after contacting the occupants. The driver and passenger were removed from the vehicle while investigators conducted a search.

During the search, investigators and deputies with the Patrol Division recovered a Radical AR-15 rifle, a Draco rifle, 118 rounds of ammunition, U.S. currency, a gallon-sized bag containing a green leafy substance, a black backpack containing a large quantity of a green leafy substance, multiple small baggies containing suspected marijuana residue, and a digital scale.

Both occupants were taken into custody and transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately release the identities of the suspects or announce the charges they are facing. The investigation remains ongoing.
