Baldwin County Woman Arrested in Monroe County Identity Theft and Debit Card Fraud Investigation

MONROE COUNTY, Ga. A Baldwin County woman has been arrested after investigators say she used a victim’s stolen debit card information to purchase two laptop computers, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation began July 7 when Monroe County Sheriff’s Office investigators were assigned a case involving financial card fraud and identity theft. The victim reported that an unknown individual had gained access to his debit card information and used it to buy two laptop computers.

During the investigation, detectives determined the laptops were scheduled to be delivered to an address in the Roberts Road area of Baldwin County.

Monroe County investigators coordinated with deputies from the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office to conduct a search, which led to the identification of the person allegedly responsible for using the victim’s debit card information.

On July 8, investigators arrested Sherry Williams of Baldwin County. She was charged with identity theft and financial card fraud.

Williams is being held at the Monroe County Jail.

The investigation remains active, and authorities said additional arrests and charges are possible.
