Social Media Post Leads to Recovery of Stolen French Bulldog in Gwinnett County
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Gwinnett County police recovered a stolen French bulldog after a group of individuals was identified through security footage and a social media post, authorities said.
The incident occurred on March 23, 2026, when officers responded to a report of a stolen dog after it jumped out of its owner’s running vehicle while the owner briefly went inside a store. Security footage showed several individuals picking up the dog, placing it in their vehicle, entering the store, and then leaving the area with the animal.
During the investigation, detectives located a social media post in which the same individuals claimed they had “stolen” the dog. Investigators identified those involved and attempted to make contact.
Detectives later spoke by phone with 24-year-old Jada Miller and 45-year-old Tanithia Miller, who provided conflicting statements about what happened to the dog and denied knowing its whereabouts.
A family member later contacted police and said she knew where the dog was and would assist in returning it. Detectives went to the family member’s home, recovered the dog, and returned it to its owner.
Authorities noted that although the dog was loose, individuals who find lost property are required under Georgia law to make reasonable efforts to locate the owner. Failing to do so and keeping the property can constitute theft of lost or mislaid property.
