Augusta Homeowner Charged After Shooting at Suspects During Attempted Car Break-In

AUGUSTA, Ga. — A homeowner is facing charges after firing at three suspected car burglars outside his home early Monday morning, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 2:55 a.m. on April 6 to the 2300 block of Bishop Way in South Augusta following reports of gunfire.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the homeowner, identified as Antonio Davis, who said he heard noise outside while preparing for work and discovered three masked individuals attempting to break into his vehicle. Davis told deputies one of the suspects was armed.

According to investigators, Davis retrieved his own firearm and fired shots as the suspects ran from the scene.

A short time later, an 18-year-old suspect, identified as Antonio Mosley, was found one street over in the back seat of a vehicle driven by his mother. Deputies said the mother told them Mosley had run into their home bleeding. They were leaving the home to go to the hospital when the deputies arrived.

Mosley was transported to Wellstar MCG for treatment.

Following the investigation, Davis was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

The incident remains under investigation.
