19-Year-Old Killed in Ocilla Party Shooting; GBI Investigating
OCILLA, Ga. — A 19-year-old man was killed and multiple others were injured following a shooting at a block party early Sunday morning in Irwin County, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Authorities say Marquavious Da’shawn Westbrook, 19, of Ocilla, died after being shot during the incident.
Officers with the Ocilla Police Department responded around 12:57 a.m. on April 5, 2026, to the intersection of East 10th Street and North McKinley Street after receiving multiple calls reporting gunfire.
When officers arrived, they found several individuals suffering from suspected gunshot wounds. All victims were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Westbrook was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
At the request of the Ocilla Police Department, GBI agents are leading the investigation into the shooting.
No additional details have been released at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
