Two Arrested in Connection to Linked Drive-By Shootings in Newton County
NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. — Two 18-year-olds have been arrested in connection with a pair of drive-by shootings that occurred in Newton County in March, according to investigators.
Deputies initially responded on March 24 to a reported drive-by shooting in the area of Heard Lane off Highway 142 North. While no injuries were reported, the incident caused property damage.
A short time later, Covington Police responded to a second drive-by shooting in the area of Settlers Grove Road. Investigators later determined the two incidents were connected.
During the investigation, authorities identified the suspect vehicle, which was confirmed to be stolen. The vehicle was later recovered in DeKalb County.
Working with the Covington Police Department, Newton County investigators identified the suspects and obtained arrest warrants.
On April 1, both suspects were taken into custody during a traffic stop at a Walmart on Salem Road. Deputies also recovered a handgun from the vehicle. Investigators later executed a search warrant at a residence on Cowan Road in connection with the case.
Lamarion Holman, 18, of Conyers, faces multiple charges, including six counts of aggravated assault, two counts of drive-by shooting, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon or first offender, and theft by receiving stolen property.
Allon Johnson, 18, of Covington, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of drive-by shooting, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and theft by receiving stolen property.
The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.
