Gwinnett County Police Seek Suspect Accused of Attempted Home Invasion

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Police are searching for a suspect accused of attempting to break into an apartment while armed with a firearm earlier this month.

According to Gwinnett County Police, officers responded around 1:00 a.m. on March 22 to a suspicious activity call at an apartment complex on Legacy Park Drive in Lawrenceville, GA. The victim reported that an individual was trying to kick in his door while holding a gun.

When officers arrived, the victim provided doorbell camera footage showing the suspect attempting to force entry, with a firearm clearly visible. The victim also told police the same individual had come to his door earlier that day, also armed.

Investigators with the department’s Robbery Unit later identified the suspect as 21-year-old Sonny Stephens of Lawrenceville.

Stephens has been charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Home Invasion and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. Authorities said multiple attempts to locate him have been unsuccessful, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
