MACON, Ga. — A woman was arrested after leading officers on a pursuit that began with a hit-and-run and ended in the parking lot of a Macon hospital, authorities said.

Late Wednesday, March 31, 2026, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office assisted Gray Police officers who were pursuing a Honda Accord involved in a hit-and-run. The suspect vehicle crossed into Bibb County traveling south on Gray Highway (U.S. 129).

Deputies joined the pursuit, which continued onto Coliseum Drive, where the driver lost control of the vehicle and spun out.

Authorities said the driver then exited the vehicle and ran into the parking lot of Piedmont Hospital Macon, where she was apprehended by deputies and Gray Police officers.

Investigators said they were surprised to find an elderly man still inside the vehicle, who had been left behind as the driver fled.

Burney faces multiple charges, including hit and run, duty to stop or return to the scene of an accident, failure to notify an owner after striking an unattended vehicle, felony fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving, possession of a Schedule I narcotic, and possession and use of drug-related objects.

Her total bond was set at $13,969. The investigation remains ongoing.
