ATLANTA — A Decatur man has been arraigned on federal charges after allegedly discharging firearms in a residential neighborhood last year, authorities said.

Shikino Quantavius Reid, 31, was indicted by a federal grand jury on March 24, 2026, and now faces a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to prosecutors, the incident occurred on July 23, 2025, when Reid allegedly attempted to start an altercation at a neighbor’s residence by firing two guns into the air. After returning to his vehicle, individuals associated with the neighbor reportedly fired back, striking Reid in the arm and also hitting a nearby home.

Officials said Reid has prior convictions, including attempted burglary, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Reid appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge John K. Larkins III and will remain in federal custody pending the outcome of the case.

“Shikino Reid’s dangerous and violent alleged actions put himself and others at serious risk of injury or death,” U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg said.

The case is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jamie Bircoll is prosecuting.

Authorities emphasized that the indictment is an allegation, and Reid is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
