Brookhaven Police Arrest 79-Year-Old in Cherokee Plaza Shooting
BROOKHAVEN, Ga. — Police have arrested a 79-year-old man in connection with a shooting that left another man injured at a shopping center in Brookhaven last month.
Vesselin G. Tzvetkov was taken into custody on April 1, 2026, in the area of E Club Drive following an investigation into the March 22nd shooting at the Kroger’s Supermarket in Cherokee Plaza, located at 3871 Peachtree Road.
According to the Brookhaven Police Department, the incident left a 75-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim survived.
Detectives had previously released surveillance images and video of a person of interest described as a possible white or Hispanic male wearing a black hat, blue jacket, dark pants, and carrying a black tote bag with tan straps. Through continued investigation, authorities identified Tzvetkov as the suspect.
He has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.
