Man Sentenced to Life Without Parole in Gwinnett County for 2023 Murder of Teen
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A 23-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole following his conviction in a 2023 fatal shooting, according to the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office.
Righteous Love Williams, of Jonesboro, was found guilty on March 20, 2026, of felony murder, armed robbery, reckless conduct, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was sentenced to life without parole, plus an additional five years.
The charges stem from the September 2023 shooting death of 19-year-old Michael Paul Maddox II of Lawrenceville.
Authorities said Maddox was dropped off at Northside Gwinnett Medical Center with gunshot wounds. Hospital staff notified police, and investigators later determined the shooting occurred on Kentshire Place in unincorporated Lawrenceville.
Detectives initially identified three individuals who transported Maddox to the hospital as witnesses, not suspects. Through the course of the investigation, Williams was identified as the shooter and was arrested four days after the incident.
Officials said the case underscores the District Attorney’s Office’s ongoing efforts to hold violent offenders accountable and support victims and their families.
