Second Suspect Wanted by Perry Police for Murder Captured in Denver, Colorado

PERRY, Ga. — A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man at an apartment complex earlier this month, authorities said.

The Perry Police Department said 27-year-old Tylar Oglesby of Warner Robins was taken into custody on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, in Denver, Colorado, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service Colorado Violent Offender Task Force. Oglesby is charged with party to a crime in the homicide of 29-year-old Diandre Oates.

Officers with the Perry Police Department initially responded around 9:28 p.m. to reports of shots fired at the complex on Houston Lake Road in Kathleen, GA. When officers arrived, they located Oates near a building suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators identified Oglesby and Alexander Culler as suspects in the shooting. Alexander Culler of Macon was previously arrested on March 18th and charged with murder. An arrest warrant for Oglesby was issued the same day.

Authorities said members of the U.S. Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force in Macon began working to locate Oglesby and developed information that he had traveled to Denver and was staying with a relative.

That information was relayed to the Colorado Violent Offender Task Force, which established surveillance at an apartment near East Mississippi Avenue and South Dayton Street. At approximately 2:55 p.m. on March 25, deputies observed Oglesby leaving the residence and took him into custody without incident.

Oglesby was transported to the Denver County Downtown Detention Center, where he was booked on the outstanding homicide warrant from Georgia. He is awaiting extradition.

“This case is a prime example of the effectiveness of our task force when multiple agencies work together toward a common goal,” said U.S. Marshal Kirk Taylor for the District of Colorado. “Our team of Deputy U.S. Marshals and Task Force Officers had a violent murder suspect in custody less than seven hours from when they received the information from the team in Georgia.”

Officials said the arrest was the result of coordination between multiple agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, the Colorado Violent Offender Task Force, the Perry Police Department, and several law enforcement agencies in Colorado.

The investigation remains ongoing.
