Man Refuses to Leave Marietta Restaurant, Officers Find Modified Stolen Gun on Him
MARIETTA, Ga. — A man was taken into custody earlier this week after refusing to leave a Marietta restaurant and being found in possession of a modified stolen firearm and suspected narcotics, police said.
According to authorities, the restaurant manager called 911 after the man would not leave the business. When officers arrived and confronted the suspect, he placed his hands into his hoodie pocket, where a loaded Glock 19 was located.
Officers said they could see the outline of a handgun and quickly intervened, taking the suspect into custody without incident.
Investigators determined the firearm had been reported stolen and had been modified with an illegal device, commonly referred to as a “switch,” converting it into a fully automatic weapon.
During the arrest, officers also recovered a second handgun from the suspect’s backpack, along with a quantity of packaged substances believed to be intended for sale.
The suspect was booked into custody at the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office. Charges were not immediately detailed.
