SYLVESTER, Ga. — A 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder following a shooting at a Walmart that left a 56-year-old man dead, authorities said.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Sylvester Police Department identified the suspect as Daktavius Antuan Tyler of Sylvester. He faces charges of malice murder, felony murder, and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Officers were dispatched around 3:00 p.m. on March 22, 2026, to a hospital in Sylvester after receiving a report of a person suffering from a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, they found Reginald Alford, 56, who later died from his injuries.

Investigators determined the shooting occurred at a separate location, and Alford was transported to the hospital after being shot.

Tyler was arrested the same day and booked into the Turner County Jail.
