Drag Racing Crash in Albany Leaves Man, 4-year-old Child Dead

ALBANY, Georgia – A suspected street racing incident in Albany turned deadly Saturday night, leaving a man and a young child dead.

The crash occurred around 9:41 p.m. on March 21, 2026, in the 1900 block of Krug Street, according to the Albany Police Department’s Traffic Unit.

Investigators say a vehicle involved in drag racing lost control and crashed into multiple vehicles.

The driver of one of the vehicles was identified as 24-year-old Brandon King. Police said a second vehicle involved in the racing initially fled the scene. The driver, identified as 25-year-old Jacob Daniels Jr., later returned and was taken into custody.

As a result of the crash, 26-year-old Rickey Thomas and a four-year-old child were killed.

Two additional victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The Albany Police Department continues to investigate the crash.
