Man Sentenced To 50 Years For Beating Girlfriend To Death In Sandy Springs
SANDY SPRINGS, Georgia – A man has been sentenced to decades in prison after being convicted in the brutal killing of his girlfriend in Sandy Springs.
On Thursday, March 19, 2026, Mamadi Tambajang was found guilty of malice murder (family violence) and aggravated battery (family violence) in the death of Amber Kelly. He has been sentenced to serve 50 years before becoming eligible for parole.
The case began on May 15, 2024, when Tambajang went to the Sandy Springs Police Department and told officers he wanted to turn himself in after harming his girlfriend.
Officers conducted a welfare check at Kelly’s residence, where they found her deceased. Investigators later determined she had been beaten to death.
Authorities said the conviction reflects the severity of the crime and the work of investigators and prosecutors who handled the case.
Officials also expressed sympathy for the victim’s family, stating they hope the verdict provides some measure of closure as they continue to heal.
