Albany Police Arrest Suspect After Shooting, Pursuit And Foot Chase
ALBANY, Georgia – A man is in custody following a shooting investigation that led to a vehicle pursuit and foot chase through Albany.
On March 18, 2026, around 10:00 a.m., Albany Police officers responded to the 1400 block of 6th Avenue after a resident reported that a victim had been struck by a bullet.
Dispatch provided officers with a description of a maroon Ford sedan believed to be involved in the incident. Officers canvassed the area and began searching for the vehicle using FLOCK camera technology and other investigative tools.
Police soon located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop.
With assistance from a local business, officers were able to relocate the vehicle, leading to a pursuit.
During the incident, an off-duty officer observed the suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Dresaun White, exit the vehicle. The officer saw White drop a firearm before getting back into the vehicle and continuing to flee.
With help from the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office, officers located the vehicle again. White later abandoned the vehicle on North Madison Street near 8th Avenue and ran from the scene.
He was taken into custody a short time later.
Officers recovered a firearm and multiple rounds of ammunition near the driver’s side door of the abandoned vehicle.
White was transported to the Dougherty County Jail and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes, and additional charges related to fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement.
Investigators say a second suspect remains unidentified and is still at large. The investigation is ongoing.
