GBI Investigating Fatal Shooting of Quitman Woman Found in Vehicle

QUITMAN, Ga.— The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation of the death of a Quitman woman who was found shot inside a vehicle at an apartment complex earlier this week.

Officers with the Quitman Police Department responded around 9:51 a.m. Monday, March 9th, to the 1000 block of North Jefferson Street after receiving a report of a woman found unresponsive inside a vehicle at the apartment complex.

When officers arrived, they found Tamesha Bartee, 31, of Quitman, inside the vehicle. Investigators determined she had been shot. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bartee’s body was transported to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Authorities said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
