Deputy Ends Dangerous Pursuit in Houston County by Ramming Suspect Vehicle

HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga.— A vehicle pursuit that began after an aggravated assault call ended Thursday morning, March 12th, when a Houston County sheriff’s lieutenant intentionally struck the suspect’s vehicle to stop it before it could endanger other motorists.

The Houston County Sheriff’s Office said it was assisting the Warner Robins Police Department in responding to an aggravated assault incident when the suspect fled, leading officers on a vehicle pursuit.

During the chase, authorities said the suspect drove recklessly and eventually entered oncoming traffic, creating an immediate danger for other drivers on the roadway.

Patrol Lieutenant Justin Andrews determined that the suspect’s actions posed a serious threat to the public and intentionally rammed the fleeing vehicle to bring the pursuit to an immediate end.

Officials said the maneuver stopped the suspect and ended the pursuit before anyone else was injured.

Sheriff Matt Moulton praised Andrews for his actions during the incident.

“I want to commend Lieutenant Justin Andrews for his professionalism, leadership, and quick action during this very stressful situation,” Moulton said.

The sheriff also noted the continued cooperation between the Houston County Sheriff’s Office and the Warner Robins Police Department in responding to incidents involving public safety.
