Chattooga County Man Sentenced to Life with 30 Years to Serve for Sexually Abusing Children in His Care
Defendant: Timmy Glenn

Summerville, GA – A Chattooga County jury has convicted Timmy Glenn of Rape, Aggravated Sexual Battery, two counts of Child Molestation, two counts of Cruelty to Children in the First Degree, two counts of Cruelty to Children in the Second Degree, and Simple Battery following a five-day trial before the Honorable Judge Melissa Hise.

On February 22, 2026, the jury returned guilty verdicts on all counts. Evidence presented at trial showed that Glenn subjected three children in his care, one of whom was his biological child, to repeated physical and sexual abuse while they lived in the same home.

The abuse came to light after two of the children escaped the residence and sought help from family members following a severe beating with a large wooden paddle. Authorities were contacted, and the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS), conducted a welfare check. Two children were immediately removed from the home for their safety.

Detective Daniel Sanford of the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office led the investigation and arranged forensic interviews at the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Children’s Advocacy Center. Initially, the children disclosed frequent beatings with the paddle, sometimes multiple times a day, resulting in significant bruising.

After learning that Glenn’s parental rights had been terminated and they would not be returned to his care, the children provided additional details in follow-up interviews. They revealed that Glenn had repeatedly used a tasing device on them and committed several acts of sexual abuse against three of the children.

Two other children who had lived in the home were also interviewed. One disclosed sexual abuse by Glenn, while testimony from another confirmed the ongoing pattern of physical and sexual abuse.

On March 9, 2026, Judge Melissa Hise sentenced Glenn to life in prison, with the first 30 years to be served in the Georgia Department of Corrections without eligibility for parole.

The case was prosecuted by Chief Assistant District Attorney Lynsay Chapman, with support from Victim Advocate Donna Howell, Administrative Staff Cara Parris, and Investigator Daniel Thacker.

“Ms. Chapman’s preparation and compelling presentation of evidence in this case ensured that an abuser who violated children entrusted to his care will never have an opportunity to harm another child,” said Acting District Attorney Deanna Reisman. “We are grateful for the bravery of the children who came forward to speak truth about the harm the defendant caused them and the dedication of the law enforcement officers and prosecution team who secured a conviction in this case.”
