Catoosa County Man Accused of Shooting Daughter in the Head, Victim Fighting for Life
Rossville, GA — A 75-year-old Georgia man has been arrested after authorities say he shot his own daughter during an incident at a residence in Catoosa County on Sunday.
According to Catoosa County Sheriff Gary R. Sisk, deputies responded to reports of shots fired around March 8, 2026, at a home located at 1623 Mack Smith Road in Rossville.
When deputies arrived, they made contact with William Woodall, 75, who was outside the residence. Deputies then entered the home and found Carrie Ann Woodall, 53, inside suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
Authorities said a neighbor had arrived before deputies and was attempting to render aid to the victim.
During the initial investigation, William Woodall admitted to deputies that he was responsible for firing the shot that struck the victim. Investigators later confirmed that the victim is Woodall’s daughter.
Emergency medical personnel transported Carrie Ann Woodall to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
William Woodall was taken to the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office for questioning and later charged with Aggravated Assault (Family Violence) and Possession of a Firearm or Knife During the Commission of or Attempt to Commit Certain Felonies.
Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing. Officials noted that if the victim does not survive her injuries, additional charges may be filed against Woodall.
