Man Arrested for Murder After Bar Shooting in Acworth
Acworth, GA — A Douglasville man has been arrested and charged with murder following a fatal shooting outside a bar early Saturday morning.
According to the Acworth Police Department, officers were dispatched around 2:42 a.m. on March 7 to the Saddle Bar located at 5150 Cowan Road after receiving a report of a person who had been shot.
Officers arrived at the scene within minutes and found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Police immediately began providing medical aid until Cobb County Fire and Metro EMS arrived.
The victim was transported to Kennestone Hospital but later died from his injuries.
Investigators learned the shooting occurred after a fight broke out at the location. Police said the victim attempted to intervene and break up the altercation.
During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly retrieved a firearm and shot the victim.
The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Daniel Di Vonne Parsons of Douglasville, was later located walking near the scene on Baker Road and taken into custody without incident.
Detectives with the Acworth Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and began processing evidence.
Parsons has been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery and felony murder. He was transported to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center where he is being held without bond.
Authorities said the victim’s identity is being withheld until next of kin have been notified.
