Five Teens Arrested After Stolen Car Traffic Stop in Bibb County

Macon, GA — Five teenagers were taken into custody after Bibb County deputies stopped a stolen vehicle with multiple juveniles inside, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators with the Property Unit and deputies with the S.R.T. Unit conducted a traffic stop on a stolen Kia Optima that had been reported taken earlier in the day.

Authorities said the vehicle had been stolen from a motel on Riverside Drive shortly before the school day began.

When deputies stopped the vehicle, all five teenagers inside exited the car. One juvenile, described as wearing all black and a ski mask, ran into a nearby wooded area.

Deputies quickly pursued and apprehended the teen before returning him to the scene.

According to investigators, the 15-year-old driver admitted he stole the Kia from the motel earlier that morning before going to school. He later left school early and picked up the other juveniles.

All five teens were arrested and transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Annex before being taken to the Law Enforcement Center for booking.
