Douglas, GA — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Wayne County man in connection with the stabbing death of a Douglas woman nearly 16 years ago.

According to the GBI, Willie James Jr., 58, of Wayne County, has been charged with malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault in the death of Sandra Robinson.

Authorities said Robinson, who was 32 at the time, was working at the Prepaid Superstore on South Madison Avenue in Douglas on March 17, 2010, when she was stabbed and killed.

The GBI Regional Investigative Office in Douglas was requested by the Douglas Police Department to assist with the investigation shortly after the incident occurred.

Investigators said James was known to Robinson and was frequently seen at the store where she worked.

According to the GBI, advancements in forensic testing ultimately helped investigators link James to the crime.

Officials said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Douglas Police Department continued to follow leads over the years while working to determine what happened in Robinson’s death.

“This arrest represents the culmination of those continued efforts,” authorities said, noting the case highlights the importance of collaboration between GBI units, local law enforcement agencies, forensic scientists, and prosecutors.

James was taken into custody on March 2, 2026, and booked into the Coffee County Jail.

The GBI also credited several agencies for assisting in the investigation and arrest, including the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol, Waycross Police Department, Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, and the Valdosta Police Department.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
